goJTAG : Electronic Component Tester

In Embedded Domain or an electronic industry, there has been always a fight for testing the electronic components like Integrated Circuits/Chips (IC) etc. Due to faulty components, lot of time is wasted just for debugging the hardware.

It has always been a complaint of every hardware designer and tester that they are not getting the working electronic components or they have tried all permutations and combinations for getting the hardware working but the end of the day they found that the hardware itself specially the IC is faulty.

So in order to avoid such conditions, "Tallinn and Ilmenau", scientists from University of Technology (Estonia and Germany) developed first university driven open source project aiming at providing a full package for a JTAG newcorner.

goJTAG, test system consists of a combination of hardware and software, and is used to check that digital and analogue electronic components are free of errors. The software includes a simulation component that fully illustrates the underlying concept of JTAG Boundary Scan.

goJTAG software allows users to study boundary-scan techniques, to carry out their own experiments, to perform diagnosis, and much more. The software environment comes with a built-in example project, and users can create their own projects with descriptions of boards, chips, cluster logic, and so on.

With goJTAG you can:

Look inside Boundary Scan cells;
Walk through TAP controller states;
Utilize a Boundary Scan controller;
Inject faults and observe their effects;
Connect your hardware and control it;
Build your programs and execute SVFs;
Create a representation of your own board design and simulate boundary scan on it;
Import your BSDL files (see www.bsdl.info)

VLC Player infected with Malware

Warning for VLC users

According to some reports , few fraud companies are abusing the source code of VLC player and distributing the software infected with malware.

So all the users are advised to download the VLC player directly from the VLC official website.

Ludovic Fauver, the developer of VLC player, says that his organisation being a non profit, does not have enough money to sue these fraud companies that are discrediting his work and also abusing the GPL.

According to Fauver, these fraud companies are doing this just for infecting the users PC or laptop and gain the profit through advertisement.

Nanonote Data Logger/Analyzer

We have developed an application around Nanonote taking care of following functions like :
1. Download data
2. Read Real Time Clock(RTC)
3. Set Real Time Clock
4. Analyze the data
5. Generate Reports
6. Display Reports using inbuilt file viewer.

Besides that application also takes care of the memory available. If the available memory is less than 5 MB then the application itself deletes the reports from NN and provides more space to download the data.

Linux community has tried to ease the life of business community by introducing a new concept of putting a single FAX machine for the whole corporate house or company instead of using multiple FAX machine.
And that new concept/tool is the FAX server namely "HYLAFAX".

This application works in a client server architecture i.e. a server application is installed on a machine on which the FAX machine is attached.
While the clients/users can mail the FAX to anyplace from anywhere sitting on the same network of the server machine using client application.

C# : Create Control Array

Hi,

In Visual Basic we have a very nice feature of creating the array of controls while designing the GUI or drag and drop of controls on the form. This can be done by setting the 'Index' property of the control.
But in C# , this very feature is not available while designing the GUI or drag & drop of controls on the form. But this very limitation can be over ruled by one trick.

We have developed an ActiveX Control for the IP address which accepts only the valid IP address like 10.0.0.5 or 1.2.3.254 etc
This control would not accept any entry like 2.3.5.256 or 0.256.1.5 etc
In fact the user cant leave blank any octet or go beyond the limit.
Moreover the beauty of this control is that all this happen at the text inputting time that means you dont need to request for the validation. The whole validation happens automatically.
